5 Types Of Gamblers, In Which Group Do You Belong?

There are different types of gamblers. More often than not, they are categorized according to their playing habits and behaviors. In this case, how do you identify yourself?

Types of Gamblers
  • Professional – For professional players, gambling is their primary source of income. This is where they get their financial resources. They are honed by experience and highly adept in combining their skills, techniques and strategies to secure a win. These are the type of players who would fervently make a list or record of all their winnings and losses, rather than depend on luck.
  • Social - If pros consider gambling as their job, social players, on the other hand, consider gambling as a pure recreational activity. Whether they are playing online or in land-based casinos, a social gambler perceives the act as a way to connect and interact with different people, and at the same time, enjoy the guilty pleasures that come along with it.
  • Conservative – Meanwhile, a conservative gambler is identified by his or her spending attitudes. Oftentimes, these are individuals who would play on a “budget.” They are very conscious and cautious of their cash inflow.
  • Serious – In simpler terms, a serious gambler can be described as a risk-taker and readily enjoys the adrenalin rush of winning. For these players, winning, regardless of the prize, is the most important thing.
  • Compulsive – Compulsive players are problem gamblers. They tend to neglect their duties and responsibilities at home and at work just to play. For them, gambling has become as important as the air that they breathe.

Gambling, in the truest sense of the word, is created for entertainment and recreational purposes. However, this does not mean that it should have full control over one’s life. It should remain as a social activity, flavored with conservative spending. Yes, one has the choice to take it seriously just like a pro. But the moment that a player becomes too compulsive, self-control should be readily observed.
