Face up 21: Increased Odds Accuracy in winning Blackjack

Most card games, whether in brick-and-mortar gaming venues or in online casinos, utilize hands that are face-down. In Face up 21—which is featured in the 12Ruby Club—as its name suggests, cards are dealt face-up. This does not necessarily promote any loophole for cheating but instead, increases the quality of players’ estimate of their own winning odds and helps them decide more effectively on the best strategies to take. This Blackjack variant uses eight regular decks of playing cards.

Here is how the game flows:
  • Players are allowed to see the cards both theirs and the dealer’s; as such, they will have a good idea of which numbers they should beat.
  • Number cards (2-10) count as their face value, Aces count as either 1 or 11, and all picture cards (except Jokers, which are not included in the deck) count as 10.
  • The dealer must stand on hard 17 or higher, and draw cards to 16.
  • The dealer will still draw card on soft 17.
  • A hand automatically stands when the total card value is 21.
  • Player wins if his hand’s value is closer to 21 than the dealer’s.
  • Player hands of 22 or higher (busted) lose regardless of the dealer’s hand.
  • If the dealer has a higher hand (but not busted), the player loses.
  • Player can Split any two cards that have equal value; by doing so, he has to place an additional wager (which must be the same with his original bet) for the new hand.
  • If the first two cards (excluding split cards) total 21, player wins a Blackjack.
  • Player wins if both he and the dealer have Blackjack; however, all non-Blackjack ties will be automatically won by the dealer.
  • All wins pay 1 to 1, including Blackjack.
