Staples in on-land and online casinos,
card games will forever be a part of the gambling scene. Most of the games are
very easy to play while others need serious concentration and even require
strategy. “Beating games” are among the most played variants amongst card
games. The objective, in most cases, is pretty simple: beat a hand (of the
dealer or other players) by earning another hand with higher value.
Beating games are common
throughout and originated from Russia and Scandinavia but they have also won
the hearts of many punters from across the globe, including Eastern Europe,
China, and the rest of Asia. Most variants require a certain “ranking” or
hierarchy (say, based on numbers or royal positions), which is the sole basis
to determine if a card or hand has a higher or lower value than the others.
Skipping (or “passing”) is not allowed in beating games. If the dealer’s hand
is stronger than the player’s, he or she may either succumb to defeat or pick
another card to gamble on a new card value. During the game, players will be
given different sets of cards and the main goal typically is to get rid of all
other cards.
The most popular beating game is
Blackjack, also known as Twenty-One (21). In this game, the player competes
against the dealer, where two to three cards are given to each of them in every
round. The main objective is to beat the croupier’s cards based on the sum or
value of both participants’ cards. Players can beat the dealer if:
- they get a total of 21 points from their first two cards (number cards are valued according to their face value, picture cards count as 10, while Aces count as one or 11)
- they earn a final score that is higher than the dealer’s but not greater than 21
